Prosek: memorial ceremony postponed
Trieste, 9 November 2024. – Every year, the Movements Civiltà Mitteleuropea and Free Trieste organize a public memorial ceremony to honor the valor and sacrifices of the fallen Austro-Hungarian soldiers from Trieste and their brotherly peoples during the 1914-1918 World War.
The ceremony is traditionally held in November at the Austro-Hungarian military cemetery of Prosek-Prosecco, on the Triestine Karst, with a multilingual Christian, Jewish, and Muslim service that honors the coexistence of the people and faiths of the ancient supranational Mitteleuropean Fatherland.
This year, the organizers have decided to postpone the 2024 ceremony to prevent potential provocations from extremists incited by the escalation of the Middle Eastern conflict, which was sparked by Hamas terrorists with the massacre of Israeli civilians on 7 October 2023.
Civiltà Mitteleuropea and Free Trieste hope that peace, coexistence, and justice can soon be restored among the peoples of the region, in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, promoted by the United States of America.
